General Questions

Our soy candles are made with love in small batches. You may notice blemishes or imperfections on the surface due to each of our candles being carefully hand poured with 100% soy and coconut wax. No two of our candles are identical meaning you are purchasing a truly unique gift. Any imperfections on candle surfaces do not impact on quality.

To get the most out of your Maethu candle, we recommend following our candle care instructions:

When you light your candle for the first time, always allow the wax to burn to the edges of the jar. This helps prevent tunnelling and will give you an even burn. Move all Maethu sprinkles to the edges of your vessel, away from the wick before lighting.

Before you burn your candle, be sure to trim your wick to 5mm to prevent smoking and to keep the wax pool clean. Be sure not to over-trim your wick as you may not be able to re-light your candle.

We recommend avoiding burning your candle for more than three hours and once the wax has reached 1cm from the bottom stop lighting the candle.

If your glass starts to show black sooty marks on the rim, this can often be avoided bytrimming the wick before burning. Wait until the candle is cooled and remove the marks with a damp cloth.

Remember that candle waxes and fragrances are sensitive to temperature and light, so try to store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This will help protect your candle from discolouration and fading.

Each of our candles come with a maethu sprinkle of good vibes. Please ensure that the sprinkles are at least 2cm away from the wick when lighting your candles.

Keep the candle away from drafts and flammable surfaces and make sure to read the safety instruction label on the bottom of your candle for additional instructions.
